Czech Republic, Prague, Winton's children

Czech Republic, Prague, Hlavní nádraží, Památník Farewell of parents with children (English version 30/3/2018)

On my way to Mariánské Lázně, I had a moment to switch to the Main Station in Prague. During the transition, I noticed this memorial, which was unveiled on 27.5.2017.

It is dedicated to the parents of the so-called Winton's children who were here at the station and said good-bye to their children. These were transported to Great Britain. In total, 669 Jewish children were transported from both Czechoslovakia and Germany and Austria. The first transport took place in March 1939. The next month the transports continued and the last one was successful in August 1939. The last one was 1.9.1939, when 250 Jewish children were transported in this way, but on this day the Second World War broke out and the transport was returned.

The Farewell Memorial is located behind the main hall as you go to the individual platforms on your right and you can not miss it. The door is made of the wagon and the children's and adult hands are displayed in the glass.

I would like to remorse one remembrance that was saved: "There is nothing worse than giving up your child in the hope that you will save your life." Zuzana Marešová.

Therefore, if you go through this place, stop for a moment and think about the wonderful time we live in. Let us not let our freedom be taken away.
