Hi steemit friends:
I will continue to tell you about the topic of health. Today I’m going to talk about
Diarrhea disease in children
Diarrhea diseases are a leading cause of pediatric morbidity and mortality in under five years old of developing countries.
According to UNICEF statistics 2012
Diarrhoea kills 800,000 children under 5 each year
Diarrhea deprives the body of water and salts that are necessary for survival. Most people who succumb to dirrahea actually die from severe dehydration.
So What is definition of diarrhea?
- Acute watery diarrhea (including cholera)
- Acute bloody diarrhea (dysentery)
- Persistent diarrhea (lasting 14 days or more)
- Diarrhea with severe malnutrition
There are many leading cause of diarrhea, example
- Defecate indiscriminately
- Water contaminated with faeces
- Person – to – person contact, aggravated by poor personal hygiene
- Food that is prepared or stored in unhygienic conditions
- Nutritional deficiencies
- The most common cause is an infection of the intestines due to either a virus, bacteria, or parasite
- Rotavirus and Escherichia coli are the two most common etiological agents of diarrhoea in developing countries.
- In addition, malnutrition increases the risk of diarrhea because it reduces the child's resistance
So HOW TO PREVENT DIARRHEA?
- Clean and safe drinking water
- Good sanitation systems, for example, waste water and sewage
- Adequate nutrition
- Handwashing with soap
- Exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life
It is hoped that the information will help people to prevent and handle the risk factors in time. Thank you for reading. If you like this article and would like to write more articles on health topics, please comment!
