I address an argument Stefan Molyneux makes for Carnism in this video featuring a debate with Ask Yourself.
Stefan's argument is that he's willing to apply the Non-Aggression Principle to any being that has the cognitive capacity to reciprocate the Non-Aggression Principle. In relation to mentally disabled humans or children that lack the ability to reciprocate the principle, he argues that he is willing to extend the principle to children or the mentally disabled but not to nonhuman animals because a POTENTIAL cure may await a mentally disabled human in the future whereas animals have no potential to improve their mental capacity to an adequate level of awareness.

Stefan's premise is invalid in that we do not definitively know if the ability
to enhance the cognitive capacity of an animal awaits us in the future.

This is a classic logical fallacy known as an appeal to potentiality.
