Confronting the Big C

Hi Steemit Friends:

I had been rather busy the past week because more and more activities need to be done for the school year to end. Also, because recently, one of the family is suddenly caught up with something that would leave all of us frail, both physically and mentally, so a lot have been going on in real life. I cannot seem to find time to write and reflect, all I can do is pray, pray, and always pray for God's grace.

One can never really feel how one feels if he / she has not been in one's shoes. We can only seek to listen and understand one's plight and suffering. It has been rather exhausting to the point that your body wants to give up but psychologically you are at your wit's end what to do. Is it fine to just give up and leave everything to fate? Or battle it out with all our heart?

Many had tried asking us about the situation and what can be done. In fact, a lot of well-intended advise, also came our way. And I cannot deeply express how thankful we are for these persons, who in one way or another, touched our lives when we are at our lowest.

I have also experienced, together with my family, regrets for not doing something about it when something can still be done. Or regrets for not taking the necessary preventative measures to not contract this kind of illness. But you see, we realized that they can only remain to be, REGRETS. We can never do something about them anymore. And also, because no one is infallible and nobody is indestructible. All of us will soon take this path someday, one way or another.

Right now, all we can hope for is God's mercy and grace. He is the one, who holds our little lives in His hands. God is the greatest Healer. We are doing whatever we can to minimize pain and to try to lessen the body's deterioration. We will still hold on.

The good things that we got from these trying times are the ability of the heart to forgive past grievances and also the opportunity to get together again as a family. It has been a really long while since most of us have seen eye to eye. Cousins seeing each other for the first time. Now that's a good thing to talk about.

My kids with their cousins. My hands are full with this lot.

I'm always receptive to subtle messages that life throws to each one of us if we just listen. Just tonight, when we went to a fast-food chain near a hospital, the positive remarks on the walls were overwhelming and it got me into a good vibe. Like an oasis in the desert, if you know what I mean.

The message I received tonight while tired and exhausted of my long day.

Family is everything. They should always be given priority. Seize the day and I hope that you will take time to do what should be done and I hope that you won't ever need to regret. May God bless you all. Until next.
