Today Boris Johnsons morally, economically and scientifically bankrupt government imposed the strictest of any UK Coronavirus restrictions on Manchester.
Manchester is on the harshest of Tier Three lockdown, punished for their uppity mayor and their uppity councillors and their uppity MPs, nine of which are true blue tories.
This, despite scientific evidence that Covid cases are slowing.
Why? Because Burnham opposed diktat bereft of evidence.
The North has been cast adrift. Why? Because Kier Star we had the audacity to champion the circuit break style lockdowns of Wales, of Ireland, of Scotland.
Now, I'm no fan of closing. But under the circuit break plan staff would be covered by furlough, businesses underwritten by £3k a month. Instead, people must survive in a city under lockdown in all but name. Stripped of cash and told to survive as best they can, on scraps so the stockbrokers can be untouched in their leafy shires.
And I say no.
I say no to a Tory government that negotiates in poor faith, with the North, with their own MPs, with parliament, with the EU. Only today did they turn their back on all negotiations. With everybody.
I say no to a government that rules by decree and diktat, rules by leak to the media, denies science when it suits politics and hides behind it at the same time.
I say no to a government who demands students attend universities in person and then imprisons them in their halls. Why? So landlords get their rent.
I have never voted Tory. I don't care what they bribe me, or threaten me, or dog whistle policies that would make Enoch Powell blush. Never forget the petty vindictive little shits they are.
This spiteful policy will ruin tens of thousands. Drive the poorest paid into penury or prostitution. Bankrupt businesses. Blight an entire generation and shutter the greatest metropolis on God's green earth.
For what? For spite. For standing up. This is not the first time Westminster has not dealt fairly. But never forget. Never vote Tory. And maybe this time will be the last.
