This sculpture is one of the well-known sculptures which represents our liberation war in 1971. These three characters symbolize three freedom fighters. This beautiful sculpture located just in front of the Arts Building of the University of Dhaka.

As a student at the University of Dhaka, I had the chance to come across this wonderful sculpture uncountable times. But it's been a while I couldn't make time to visit my beloved campus. Last 16th December, I visited this place and captured this historical place.

This is not just a sculpture for us. It represents our liberation war, our sacrifices and how freedom fighters took the responsibility to help us emerge as a country Bangladesh. The middle character of the sculpture represents a farmer, who is wearing our local ware 'Lungi'. The lady represents a housewife, who is holding the first-aid box to indicate she is a nurse. And the third one is a statue of a general student of the University of Dhaka, who wears just pants and holding a rifle.

These three character means how every one of us takes part in the liberation war from their level best. People had no cloth, no weapon, no food; but they didn't hesitate to sacrifice their life for our freedom. This is how it was. And that's why this sculpture is so significant. And the name is so perfect. Aparajeyo means who doesn't lose and wins every time. It symbolizes our victory.

There's a Wiki Article where you will find the detail about this sculpture like it's designing, inspiration, how they build it, who build it; everything. If you are interested you can click on the link.

This is how the surrounding area looks like. The sculpture is just in front of the Faculty of Arts Building, where I used to attend my classes. Oh, I have a thousand of memory there.

This is how the surroundings look like. It's a well managed and freshly looking place. It was not this before. It used to be a little dirtier and the trees and gardens used to be a little messy before. But I was astonished by seeing the improvement made by the administration. I really appreciate their efforts.

The University of Dhaka is located in the heart of the Dhaka city. This is a very popular place. So you don't have to struggle to find it. You can take any local vehicle to reach there. And it's best to walk through the campus to explore different sculptures, historical places and more.

I was there with my family. I mean my son and my husband. This was the first time, my son get to see any sculpture this close. He was very excited. He touched them and asked a thousand questions about is. As he is not even three, so it's hard to explain everything to him to make him understand. But he certainly got the idea that they are national heroes, just like superman or spiderman!
