India, Goa. Part 4. Trip to Hampi.

Hi to everyone!!!

This is the fourth post about my trip to India. The previous three stories about the wonderful state of Goa can be found on these links: one, two and three. Be sure to check out these posts, there are many interesting things!

And in this there will be few words and many photos.

Few facts about the place we went to. Hampi is a small but very ancient village, located in the middle of the ruins of the former capital of the Vijayanagar Empire. All these ruins belong to the UNESCO world heritage, which means that one can not climb anywhere, but with each year the excavation of ruins appears more and more.

At the moment, there is a functioning Virupaksha temple in Hampi, which, as I understand it, is very popular among local and pilgrims professing Hinduism.

The temple, by the way, is very beautiful, with its own sacred elephant.

Not far from the temple on the hill, where tourists come to watch the sunset, you can feed the monkeys:

Next a few photos without comment. There is a bath of princesses, a building for their rest in the heat, "parking" for imperial elephants and so on:

I must say, I liked Hampi very much, but we had a terrible guide, so I can not give enough interesting information on this wonderful place. It's easier to google and compare with my photos.

When traveling to Karnataka, it is worth considering that there is no meat there. No - it means not at all. This is a state of vegetarians, and this must be taken into account. If you move away from the tourist roads, it is real to meet the locals, who see the white man for the first time.

It is also necessary to stock up with steel nerves or strong alcohol, because the long expensive calm will not be exact. It seems that in India there is only one rule of the road: left-hand traffic. But this rule is regularly violated. Fear, we suffered there for life.

As a bonus, keep a photograph of the sunset in Hampi:

Here are the souvenirs we brought from India:
