When I visited New Zealand everyone was very excited about the first "The Hobbit" movie in cinema. This event was celebrated by a public viewing of "The Lord of the Rings" in Wellington.
We were lucky to be part of this event for we arrived in Wellington hitch-hiking just that day. We had slept next to a road in our tent the night before because some travellers had left us out there. We hitched a ride early morning and drove until the late afternoon. Then we looked for a hostel and took two beds in the dorm.
I love the LotR movies and books. The whole world of Tolkien is totally fascinating to me. This scene is very essential. We see that Gandalf can not pick up the ring because he sees that it is doomed and it will only follow Sauron.
One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them
In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.
During the closing credits the song "May it be" by Enya resounded in all the streets of the centre of Wellington. That was a really magical feeling. It was dark and we had to search for the hostel. Luckily we found our way back in the dark.
