#day353 checked off our 5th #world #wonder...#Chichén #Itzá. These #Mayan #ruins were one of the most important Mayan cities of their era. Many buildings are still intact and are a great showcase of the Mayan #civilisation building techniques, #carvings, and also the fusion with the #Toltec culture. We managed to be some of the earliest visitors, so as to avoid the thousands of #tourists that flock in daily, and it proved to be a great idea, as they were #swarming in as we were ready to leave =) Not one of our favourite world wonders due to its #hype, but we still enjoyed the visit and also managed to see a #woodpecker up close, pecking his way through a tree next to the #cenote =)
