La Quiaca, Argentina - Villazón, Bolivia

If you read the previous post you will know that from San Salvador de Jujuy, on October 8 at 7.45hs we take the bus to La Quiaca.

As informative data to potential travelers, the cost of the ticket was $ 200 Argentine c / u (US $ 5.2). Take this data with tweezers, since there is not much stability in terms of prices in Argentina, but maybe it will work.

After approximately 5 hours, we were already in our last destination on Argentine soil! La Quiaca is a town on the border with Bolivia.

When we arrived, with hunger, we saw ourselves in the following situation: we did not have enough cash, we only had $ 30Ars (maybe we would have reached to buy a crumb sandwich or some fruits, not much more than that) and it cost us a Little find a place where we can order a lunch and pay with debit.
Luckily, we got it and we could move on to the next emotion: WE WERE ABLE TO CROSS BOLIVIA !!!
It was a very simple procedure, for the schedule we did not even have to stand in line, at the window they sealed our passports (from any country that is part of the Mercosur, it is enough to show the national identity card) and then we had to put our backpacks in a scanner to prove that we do not transport anything illegal, cross a bridge and ... Welcome to Villazón - Bolivia.

After crossing, the time of our cell phones was updated. That's crazy!!! In Argentina it was 4:00 pm, and 50 meters later (if the border crossing has that length), it was 3:00 pm. It was like going back an hour, walking forward. The opportunity to take more time That day, that border, gave us a day of 25 hours.

Now, without counting the houses of relatives or friends to stay, facing new culture, is that the adventure began. The first thing we did when crossing, was to exchange dollars for Bolivian pesos. So you know, we set ourselves the goal of spending US $ 1000 per country (when we finish touring Bolivia we will tell you how we went with this goal, and we will even make a detail of expenses if someone plans to make a similar trip). Thus, in Villazón we changed U $ S500 to 3450Bs, with the change to 6.90Bs for each dollar.

Some Bolivian bills

As the bus that we had to take to Sucre left at 8:00 pm, we had time to travel a little through the city of Villazón. Being a border city there are many places, sales stalls and markets everywhere. We made some purchases, a ne tripod 20Bs, two sets of cutlery + a cover to take them 33Bs (we hung in to bring from our houses), two books 60Bs (faithful companions in long trips or from Paraguayan hammock in the shade), etc. . All these, avoidable expenses, that serve as "tips" for those who are still at home building their backpacks to go on a trip.
In addition to other justifiable and necessary expenses, food and water.

Here are the proofs

When the sun began to fall, we took a taxi to the bus terminal that charged us 10Bs. This is also an avoidable expense if in spite of the weight of the backpack you are willing to walk 2Km approximately, it is not far, and if you start the walk early so it is not done at night before you arrive.
When we arrive, we buy the tickets to Sucre. One of the details that caught our attention, because it is not the same in Argentina, is that each transport company has spokespersons who announce their destinations to screams, and they even go looking for you to sell you tickets; Another detail is that they charge "terminal use", either a manager located at the door that connects the terminal with the bus boarding platforms, or when you are inside the bus. In Villazón we pay 2Bs each.
