Culture and Travel impressions from Tunisia

Tunisia museum and landscape

It is time to plan the next vacation to a place of sun, hot weather and culture. To get prepared here some impressions from Djerba last year. I even managed to visit a museum to learn about culture on the island. The museum was quite empty but with a lot of things to learn. Name of it was musee du patrimoine - full of wonderful history and culture.

Two weeks I do not want to miss anymore. Wifey plans a trip to Turkey for March, Bulgaria in April but all not hot enough. In Djerba we also enjoyed a trip to visit old traditional Berber settlements to see how these people lived in the past.

The Berbers come originally from North Africa and there are lot communities across the region including Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Libya and Egypt to name a few. The Berbers name themselves Imazighen and speak various dialects / languages related to Ancient Egyptian. Nowadays the majority of Berbers live in Morocco and Algeria as well as large immigrant communities in Europe and Canada. The Berbers live a strong identity across different languages and heritage which covers their joined history in North Africa which is what they mainly unite in terms of collective identification.
