TwinnerTravels - Sardinia (10) - Nuraghe Su Nuraxi near Barumini

Hello Steemians,

welcome to the tenth part of our trip on the island of Sardinia.

On the way to our last lodging near Cagliari we made a detour to the prehistoric site Su Nuraxi. The facility is located near the village of Barumini in the south of Sardinia.

The archaeological site is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 15-meter-high ruins of the main tower can be seen from a distance.

The complex can only be accessed during a guided tour. In the picture you can see our guide inside the tower in the background a room with a simulated fireplace inside the tower.

The tower can only be reached by stairs.

View from above down into the tower.

View from the bottom of the tower up to the sky.

Around the tower there are also the remains of the walls of other buildings.

For more informations about this site please read http://www.italia.it/en/travel-ideas/unesco-world-heritage-sites/barumini-the-nuraghi.html.

In the surroundings of Barumini there are some cone-shaped mountains, which gave the Marmilla region its name (Marilla = brest shaped).

Thank you for reading!
