After our disappointing trip to the waterfall we drove over the expressway into the harbor town of Ajaccio

Nach unserem enttäuschenden Ausflug zum Brautschleier-Wasserfall sind wir über die Schnellstraße in die Hafenstadt Ajaccio gefahren.

Ajaccio is the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte. In the center of the city stands on the square "Place Foch" a memorial statue for the most famous son of the city.

Ajaccio ist der Geburtsort von Napolean Bonaparte. Im Zentrum der Stadt steht auf dem Platz "Place Foch" eine Gedenkstatue für den berühmtesten Sohn der Stadt.

Ajaccio is also a port town. There are many ferry boats that connect Ajaccio and Corsica with the French port cities of Marseille and Toulon.

Ajaccio ist auch eine Hafenstadt. Hier legen viele Fährschiffe an, wobei die direkten Verbindungen zu den französischen Hafenstädten Marseille und Toulon dominieren.

Ajaccio has a small but fine sand beach in the urban area.

Ajaccio hat im Stadtgebiet auch einen schmalen aber feinen Sandstrand.

The former fortress of Ajaccio is located directly at the port.

Die ehemalige Festungsanlage von Ajaccio befindet sich direkt am Hafen.

In the moat of the fortress sheep are grazed now.

Directly at the square "Place Foch" is also the town hall of Ajaccio, the "Mairie d' Ajaccio"

Direkt am Platz "Place Foch" befindet sich auch das Rathaus von Ajaccio, das "Mairie d' Ajaccio".

The family home of Napoleon Bonaparte is located in the narrow street "Rue Saint-Charles".

Das Wohnhaus der Familie von Napolean Bonaparte liegt in der schmalen Straße "Rue Saint-Charles".

At last we reached the house where Napoleon was born. Today it houses a museum. More information can be found at musees-nationaux-malmaison.fr

Endlich erreichten wir das Haus in dem Napoleon geboren wurde. Heute beherbert es ein Museum. Mehr Infos findet man unter musees-nationaux-malmaison.fr

Nearby is also the church "La Cathédrale d'Ajaccio".

Ganz in der Nähe befindet sich auch die Kirche "La Cathédrale d'Ajaccio".

Also worth a visit is the museum a href="http://www.musee-fesch.com/">"Musee Fesch". Here you can see the picturesque courtyard of the "Palais Fesch".

Empfehlenswert ist auch ein Besuch des Museums "Musee Fesch". Hier ein Blick in den malerischen Innenhof des Palais Fesch.
