But that does not stop you from traveling to a country, on the contrary. It is now fun to negotiate with the tuk tuk drivers, to take the bus (without window) through the area, or by train for hours through the mountains of the island with a unique view to gondeln. That IS the life that IS adventure, that is the way that even the locals take.
To stop you from torturing, here are 4 cool tips for your trip:
Always negotiate with Tuk Tuk driver! Ask a few drivers and then take the most favorable. The more you get away from the tourist stream, the more normal / cheaper are the prices. We have the experience not only in Sri Lanka.
- Take the bus as an alternative. This is very cheap and holds at every corner. You just have to press the bell. There are no bus stops, you decide when to stop!
-Long distances here on Sri Lanka you can take the train. Stress-free, much more space and you see things that are otherwise hidden from you. In the case of small routes, you can buy the ticket only shortly before the arrival of the train, as the switch opens shortly before it.
- Use the app "Pick Me" which is an alternative to UBER and is from Sri Lanka. Here you can find Tuk Tuk drivers who will take you to the local prices.
Das soll dich aber nicht von deiner Reise in ein Land abhalten, im Gegenteil. Es macht mittlerweile Spaß mit den Tuk Tuk Fahrern zu verhandeln, mit dem Bus ( ohne Fenster ) durch die Gegend zu fahen, oder mit dem Zug stundenlang durch die Berge der Insel mit einer einmaligen Aussicht zu gondeln. Um dich nicht länger auf die Folter zu spannen, hier 4 coole Tipps für deine Reise:
-Verhandle immer mit Tuk Tuk Fahrer! Frag ein paar Fahrer und nimm dann den günstigesten. Je weiter du dich von Touristenstrom entfernst, desto normaler / günstiger sind die Preise. Wir haben die Erfahrung nicht nur in Sri Lanka gemacht.
-Nimm als Alternative den Bus. Der ist sehr günstig und hält an jeder Ecke. Du musst nur an der Klingel drücken. Es gibt keine Bushaltestationen, du entscheidest selbst, wann er halten soll!
-Lange Strecken hier auf Sri Lanka nimmst du am besten mit dem Zug. Stressfrei, viel mehr Platz und du siehst Dinge, die dir sonst verborgen bleiben. Bei kleinen Strecken kannst du das Ticket meist nur kurz vor der Ankunft des Zuges kaufen, da der Schalter er kurz davor öffnet.
-Benutze die App „ Pick Me „ das ist eine Alternative zu UBER und ist aus Sri Lanka. Hier kannst du sehr gut Tuk Tuk Fahrer finden, die dich zu den lokalen Preisen dann zum Ziel bringen.
