The Marble Pagoda in front of Geuk Lak Bo Jeon Hall of Sin Reuk Sa Temple, Korea

It was a rare case to see the pagoda made up of the marble.
Unlike Italia and Greece, the marbles are very rare material in Korea.
The main material in Korea was the granite.

In this temple, It was a great and unexpected thing for me to see the marble pagoda.
As soon as finding out this marble pagoda, I got to there with close.
There were several carvings on the body part of the pagoda, but it was not easy to identify what those carvings tried to show.

Apparently, the problem was the erosion by the wind and the rain.
The marbles were easy to carve, but it must be protected from the wind and the rainfall.
Especially the acid rain in nowadays seemed to make this phenomena worse.

This marble pagoda seemed to me made in late Shilla or early Goryeo dynasty according to the explanation board.
But in my guess, this pagoda would be made in middle or late Goryeo dynasty.
