What attracted my attention at first was 2nd story pavilion in front of the river.
The name of the pavilion was unusual as that of the temple building.
It was “Gu Ryong Ru” meaning 9 dragon pavilion.
This name seemed to be influence by its history.
In Korean Buddhism, dragon means the pawer of the water.
Maybe this temple might've been fired during the Japanese Invasion 1592-1597
So they named this pavilion to protect from the fire with the power of the dragons.
What made me interesting was there were lots of drawings seemed to be influence by Taoism.
Not only Korea but also in the far eastern society, the happiness in this world is more important than that in the next world. In many case, Koreans religion in contemporary era seemed to be substituted externally without being changed internally.
So we can see those kinds of buildings which looked like to be influenced from Taoism in Buddhist temple.
At the second floor, I could see lots of drawings seemed to be mixed by Buddhism and Taoism.
The well carved corner stone told me this pavilion had a long history.
