Seon Am Sa temple is quite different from other temples in its characteristics.
The one of the most different thing from others seemed the interpretation of the space in this temple.
Unlike other temples, the spaces were closed and divided by the walls.
People could move through the gates from this place to that place.
Usually the space in other temples is widely opened.
Of course in Bulgooksa temple, the spaces were divided by wall, but it was very different from Seon Am Sa.
Bulgooksa tempe has the very formal style in architecture, but Seon Am Sa was very liberal in its architectural style. Even though the spaces and the places were closed and divided, I could feel comfort and free in the closed space.
In my thought, It is not easy to explain the characteristics of the space in Seon Am Sa, so I’d like introduce you some pics of the Soen Am Sa temple.
