Places to visit when in Bangalore - Nandi hills

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to start a series called places to visit when in Bangalore so that anyone visiting the city can plan their visit to make the most of their spare time.

Starting of with the most famous tourist location around Bangalore - Nandi Hills.
Nandi Hills is a hilltop location situated in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka which is about 70 kms from Bangalore City. People visit this hilltop to get a stunning view of the sunrise or the sunset which you do not get from any of the high-rises in the city.

Ride along the Bangalore-Hyderabad highway until you reach the Devanahalli intersection where you can see a road-sign that will direct you towards Nandi Hills. The gates to the hilltop opens at 6AM everyday and it is about a 15-20 minute uphill drive to the main entrance and parking lot. Make sure you reach pretty early like 5AM at the main gate or you'll be in a long que of vehicles. The que is really very long on weekends and public holidays. Entrance fees are applicable and also there is a fee for parking your vehicle.

There are multiple locations on the hilltop that can give you stunning pictures. The viewpoint is usually crowded and it's tough to find a decent place among the people on that stands. Overall, a place that is frequented by many and a must visit at least once if you are staying in Bangalore for a long time.

Here are some pictures from my visit:
