The Colosseum in Rome

I took this photo from the Roman Forum, the epicentre of life for the Roman people. It includes ruins of basilicas, temples, government buildings and public squares which date back to 7 BC, and impresses just as much as it would have centuries ago. Unlike its counterparts from ancient civilisation, the city is full to the brim with as many tourists as locals. It’s extremely busy and can unfortunately cause many of the landmarks to be very overcrowded. We waited in a queue for about thirty minutes but it was absolutely worth it with the winter sun shining down on such an incredible piece of history. For those who don't know, The Colosseum was the largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire. Being able to seat approximately 50,000 spectators, it was the premier venue for bloody gladiator combat.
