Aussie’s in the USA - Part 14 - Aberdeen, Washington - Kurt Cobain Landing

Aberdeen, Washington

Aberdeen is found on the Pacific Coast west of Seattle and Tacoma. It is one of the largest logging towns in the USA and seemed pretty run down and economically depressed when we visitied.

One of Aberdeens claims to fame is that Nirvana singer Kurt Cobain was born there and lived there during the early stages of Nirvana before he moved to Seattle.

Kurt Cobain Landing

As a dedication to the singer, the city had a small park named in his honour. It is next to the Wishkah river and the infamous bridge which he penned the song ‘Something in the Way’ about. Apparently, Kurt frequented this area as a kid and spent a lot of time under the bridge in his youth.
