Holbox island - Cancun's best kept secret

We can't think of Mexico's hottest destinations without thinking about Cancun - or the Riviera Maya.

And there is a good reason to it - the Riviera is packed with wonderful things to see/do:

1. Maroma Beach (voted best beach in the world for 2017)

2. Mayan Pyramids
Chichen Itza (one of the new seven wonders of the world)

Tulum

And the list can go on and on and on... Anything from cenotes, food, beaches, islands and of course... plenty of tequila.

But lets stop for a second, the next destination is not as touristy as the Riviera Maya and is only 2 hours in car from Cancun followed by a short ferry ride to the island.

Yes! I am talking of HOLBOX.

This island will not only make you forget time exists, but will also make you wonder why the heck you didn't visit this place before.

I stayed in the island for only 4 days but on the way back to Cancun's Airport, I felt like I was leaving a piece of myself in behind in Holbox. There's some magic to this place, it's so small and cozy that you start feeling part of it, you start meeting the people in the restaurants, the tour guides, the other tourists, etc.

The community doesn't allow cars on the island, there is only golf carts and bikes (pretty cool no?).

The food is bomb by the way! Holbox's specialty is lobster pizza...

You can get super close to flamingos! Seriously, there is a part of the beach that you can easily walk for 250 meters with the water only reaching your knee... it's crazy.

The place is perfect for a romantic getaway!
The island is starting to get pretty trendy, so if you are a travel enthusiast please visit ASAP - http://www.holboxisland.com/

And last, but not the least, people gather every day in the pier to see the sunset.

Hope you can visit soon. Travel Mexico!
