The largest Christmas tree in the world was installed in 2009 in Mexico city (the capital of Mexico), On Paso de La Reforma Avenue. Its size was recorded and included in the Guinness book of records, the height of the tree was 110 meters 35 centimeters (this corresponds to the height of forty-storey building) and the diameter of 35 meters.

The total weight of all metal structures, of which the world's largest Christmas tree, was 330 tons. Collected this machine two hundred workers within two months. During this time, was hung up no one thousand huge toy ornaments and electric garlands, the total length of which was eighty thousand meters, and the number of bulbs used in garlands — about a million.

Festivals and fairs were held in the area of the Central sokalo square, where the largest Christmas tree was installed. More than forty choirs took part in the festive concerts held on the square, and the famous tenor Placido Domingo gave several free concerts.

Mexican Christmas tree broke the previous record set in 2007 in the Brazilian city of Aracaju at 24 cm.the Mexican Capital owns another record, also pleased the residents and tourists of the city on Christmas eve and New year — the largest ice rink in the world. It was flooded at the end of December 2008.
