Travel Romania - Part 3: Bran Castle

TLDR: Bran Castle. Very touristy, not as cool as Peleș Castle, but still kinda cool you can’t go to Romania without visiting.

Hi Steemers,

Hope you’re good. This is Romania Part 3, totes check out the other 2 parts if you haven’t done so. We travelled to Bran Castle, which is the castle the Bram Stoker took for inspiration for Dracula’s castle. Please be aware that this was never stated by Bram, but experts are in general agreement that this is the case. What is quite interesting is that Bram had never been to Romania and done all his research from books.
It is quite difficult to get a good wide view of the castle’s exterior, as it is surrounded by trees and hills, however, unlike Peleș Castle, pictures of the interior were allowed.

Part 3: Bran Castle

Bran Castle is very old, first built in 1212 and has been destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout its life. For comparison, Peleș Castle is only 100 years old. Nearly the entire original interior is gone from Bran, and it’s now very much a museum, with some rooms with displays on Bram Stoker, vampires, knights from the castle’s history and torture implements. Some rooms however, literally have some furniture from Ikea in an effort to fill empty space.

For some official Pro-Tog photos for aerial exterior shots etc, you can check out the official website here: http://www.bran-castle.com/gallery-castle.html

Thanks all!

-Peace.
