THE MOTHER CITY...
Cape Town, South Africa
is much like a woman...
one moment the sun is shining and she is as sweet as sugar,
the next there are thunder clouds rolling in... lol
(true story)
but when she SHINES...
WELL, THEN
she is the most gloriously beautiful thing
you have EVER laid eyes on!
I am truly BLESSED
to call such a PICTURESQUE place
MY HOME!
Today, our amazing CAPE TOWN
was doing NOTHING short of SHOWING OFF!
So we decided to hit the road and do a little road trip
on the one side of the Peninsula...
We started off towards Hout Bay,
where a couple of months ago, we had created
some clay creations....
I wrote a post about it at the time,
but I post so much I couldn't find it to tag lol
Essentially it is a restaurant and pottery studio,
So you choose your items and paint them,
whilst you all enjoy your meal...
you hand them in when you leave and then you can collect them
in three weeks.
We left it for almost three months, lol
so were actually lucky to get our goods back haha!
I had done two banana boat servers,
and Jude had done a "yoda"
I was THRILLED with the way they all turned out!!!!
heading on slowly to "nowhere" lol....
We decided to take a drive through Hout Bay
and over the infamous Chapmans Peak
But before we get to the "peak" of things lol,
let a little be said for Hout Bay,
Which is a seaside suburb in Cape Town,
which in many respects is like a "country" of its own...
being on the other side of the mountain and all...
The views as you drive out of Hout Bay and head up
towards Chapmans, are NOTHING short of breathtaking!!!
heading upward,
the Mother City had a mood swing...
hahahaha!
Just LOOK at that mist rolling in,
it looks NOTHING like the views we saw
just 1 kilometer back lol
approaching Chapmans Peak,
you are presented with a toll gate...
which is "supposedly" aimed towards
funding the maintenance of the rock fall issues
along the drive...
Driving through the "tunnel" of the mountain,
is quite awe inspiring....
aaaand a little daunting! lol
heading onward, we drove on towards
a suburb called "Scarborough"
which is an exceptionally unique,
and tiny little suburb with a completely
"beach style" approach to life
many a dread lock and wetsuit
floating those streets ;)
and it has the most AMAZING energy too!
The beach vicinity is referred to as
"MISTY CLIFFS" and although a "little" misty today,
it was not as misty as it usually is...
but a sight for sore eyes nonetheless!!!!
We get a lot of fires here in the Cape,
and this is the sad "aftermath",
although sad to see... it is also essential for our
Fynbos, as it is the smoke which initiates the germination.
Next, we headed passed
Boulders Beach
which is penguin heaven,
aaaand hippy heaven lol ;)
Amusing thing was that as I stepped out of the car,
and went to take pics of the view,
I only noticed "mid snap shot" as the guy
on the rocks with his girlfriend peered up at me,
whilst chatting on his phone to someone,
that his girlfriend was lying there topless lol
and at the precise moment he looked at me,
from their vantage point,
it would definitely have appeared that I had my
camera on them..... lol
aaaawkwaaard!!!! hahaha!
moving along swiftly.... lol
off to Kalk Bay it was...
Tummies were hungryyyy!
So to the Brass Bell, we headed...
The Brass Bell,
is pretty much a household name
to most Capetonians....
it is one of those establishments that has TRULY
stood the test of time,
and that most likely has a LOT to do with the fact
that you are located RIGHT on the water...
it makes for good vibes and good views,
although, as per one of my previous posts...
when the Mother City has one of her mood swings....
things can get PRETTY scary at the Bell.... lol
Thankfully however...
today was NOT one of "THOSE" days! lol
So time for food and drinks it was :)
with the tummies full and time running out
as Jude was due to arrive home soon,
we headed homeward....
but not without a quick stop
at some of my BEST shops in "The Bay"
I am a total SUCKER for
ANYTHING EASTERN!
To my mind, absolutely EVERYTHING
about the Eastern world carries a higher energetic vibration!
Us "westerners" would do favour to ourselves,
to pay more attention to the ways of the East.
Now it was time to make our way back to the car,
and Kalk Bay is SO popular, that we had to park
half way up the mountain lol
and so the "GREAT TREK" began lol!
YAY!!!
I made it to the top of the hill!!!
I hope you are proud @amarbir lol
Time to hit the road peeps...
but not going to say goodbye,
without sharing a picture of our GLORIOUS
"Old Man Mountain"
(can you see him?)
It was a SUPER AWESOME day,
and tomorrow is the FIRST MONDAY
in a LONG time....
that I will NOT be dreading!!!
WHOOOFNCKINGHOOOOOO !!!
hehehehehe :)
Until next time...
Much Love from Cape Town, South Africa xxx
