Bai Tho Mountain offers the best views of Halong bay without booking an expensive helicopter or seaplane flight. To be fair, it’s more of a hill than a mountain but such is the way of things in Vietnam. There is a flight of steps to carry you to the top although the entrance to them is not easy to find.
The staircase begins on Hang Noi St in the centre of Halong City. If you get a taxi here then ask the locals, you be fine. It takes a relatively fit person about 30 minutes to climb to the top, but you will not be disappointed.
This is just one of the many attractions that you’ll find in the city itself. Halong Bay is a must for any traveller visiting Vietnam.
