Travelling with my wife: Key West

IMG_0286.jpg

As I mentioned in earlier post, my wife and I took a little getaway from Finland. Our destination was Miami, Florida! We have dreamed of travelling there for a while and now that moment finally came.

Miami is very close to Key West (USA´s Southernmost city) so we rented a car and took a daytrip there. I have to say that it was really long day, it took almost 4 hours to drive there and then 4 hours to drive back to Miami. So, if ever going there again, we have to book a hotel from there for sure. But the route from Miami to Key West is beautiful, a lot of sea views and long bridges (including 7 miles long bridge).

When we arrived to Key West, we parked our car and rented bikes. Everyone there was driving around the island by bikes and golf carts. It was so much easier way to look around than driving by car because it´s such a small island. Or if you are driving around by car it´s difficult to find free parking space.

There are a lot of beautiful beaches in Key West, quickly visited one of them and had a few drinks there.

There are a lot of restaurants nearby Mallory Square (place where big cruises arrive), we went to eat some really good Mexican food to Amigos tortilla bar; quesadillas and nachos. Took Key lime pie for a dessert, can recommend that too.

All in all, book a hotel (one night is enough) and rent a bike (10 dollars) or a golf cart if you are going to Key West! And eat Key lime pie :) And if you want to have a photo with that Southermost point statue, prepare to wait in a line (as my wife waited for 40 minutes :D)!
