The Areca Nut must be one of the most unusual and spectacular plants in the tropical rainforest. The fruit of this palm is generally called the Betel Nut. This sometimes causes confusion with the Betel Leaves, which are used to wrap the Areca Nut in.  Confusion can also be serious, as the nut is generally chewed like chewing tobacco by millions world wide and can cause several types of cancer.
