Someone Deserves a Break : City Tour with my Mother

Good day fellow Steemians! I hope you are all doing great!

Today, allow me to share to you the tour I had with my mother around Cebu. This is not the usual thing we really do. In fact, it's the first time that I had her visit some of the places in the City. Actually it has been her request to me until I had the time and of course money to grant her wish. What a little thing I can do after all her hardwork and sacrifices for us everyday.

First, allow me to introduce to you my dearest mother.

Her name is Raquel Aying and she is originally from Iligan City. She has been here in Cebu for more or less 30 years now and she has never been into most of the places in Cebu not until last year June 2017.

So lets get started...

We started visiting the Magellan's Cross. One of the most popular tourist spot in Cebu.

It is located at the heart of Cebu City beside Basilica del Santo Niño.

To give you a little detail about its history, the place was built almost 500 years ago when Magellan landed here in Cebu and had to baptized the first Christian Filipinos namely Rajah Humabon and Queen Juana. It is probably the most important historical marking in Cebu.

Next stop is, Taoist Temple.

I really took several photos of her in this place as per her request. She said she wants it documented. Who said only younger ones can do this? 😂

This is located in Canyon Road, Beverly Hills Subdivision, Lahug. We took a taxi going to the place.
If you visit the place, you are not allowed to make noises.

The temple was built in 1972. Yes, still hundred years ago like the Magellan's Cross. The temple is the center of worship for Taoism, the religion which follows the teachings of the ancient Chinese philosopher, Lao Zi. In the temple, devotees perform rituals. One ritual is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish.

Then, we went to Temple of Leah. It is in Cebu Transcentral Hwy, Cebu City. You can ride a taxi or habal habal in going to the place.

The place was still under construction though but it's a very nice place to visit with your family. There has been stories about how the place was built.

The temple was constructed in the year 2012. Temple of Leah, dubbed as “Cebu’s Taj Mahal,” is a grand gesture of love from a husband to his late wife. But unlike the Taj Mahal, which is a mausoleum, Temple of Leah is a shrine holding the memory and treasures of Leah Albino-Adarna, the late wife of Teodorico Adarna.

Of course, we cannot leave the place without taking photos of her.

See? That's my mother and she really enjoyed the day.

It was almost lunch time when we decided to go to our next stop but of course, we do not want to do that with an empty stomach so we stopped by at Lantaw Busay which happens to be just a walking distance from Temple of Leah.

Unfortunately, I was not able to take photos of the best part of our gala but it's fine. Better luck next time.

For our last stop, Sirao Garden.

Sirao Garden is a beautiful hillside garden located in Busay, Cebu also known as "Mini Amsterdam". It is a great place for families and friends to explore and enjoy colorful flowers and the blessings of nature. It got popular last 2015 through the social media until it became a tourist spot and became known to the Cebuanos even to the people outside of the Island.

There were really no much flowers during the time of our visit because they were still recovering from the storm and landslide that happened last April 2017. Just about 2 months before our visit but it was all worth it. The experience was incomparable and for sure, it was a day my mother would never forget.

It was not really that extravagant tour but atleast I got to bond with my mother/my bestfriend.

Hoping to be able to do it again and hopefully with the whole family next time.
