Among the numerous lakes of Gorny Altai, it is impossible not to mention Kidel. This wonderful reservoir is located just 300 meters from the Ulogan Pass. Places here are truly high-mountain dwarf birch trees, a lot of juniper, cedar, and larch.

Water from the lake flows into the Sarychik River, which in turn flows into the Kubadra, a tributary of the Bashkaus, which flows into Chulyshman.

Among other lakes located not far from the pass Ulagan, Kidel is relatively not large, but thousands of tourists conquer stunning views. On the horizon, the Kurai Range ridges snow on the peaks of which does not melt even in summer.

According to local residents, the name of the lake comes from the Altai Kejege, which means men's spit. The lake is rich in fish and is an excellent place to relax.
