Photos from Mostar, Bosnia (Original Content)

I was going through some photos of our trip through Europe last year when I remembered Mostar in Bosnia. This was one of the most beautiful cities I've ever visited. We stayed for 3 days but one can visit on a day trip from Croatia.

At the heart of Mostar is the Old Bridge over the Neretva river. It's about 3 or 4 stories high but brave locals will jump off the bridge into the freezing cold water. The bridge was previously destroyed by a tank during the Bosnian / Serbian war but it was rebuilt in 2004 to the original spec.

There are other similar bridges around which are still original albeit they're much smaller in size.

Mostar is a beautiful city and the attention to detail is simply amazing. This was a water feature at a restaurant on the main street. We had Bosnian coffee here, which is different to Western coffee. When you drink coffee in Bosnia, it's to take time out, not to increase your productivity. You don't drink coffee while focusing your attention on another task :)

Mostar is especially beautiful at night time. The speakers over the town play music (I think it's for Islamic prayer) and the town begins to relax. The restaurants were amazing, looking over a network of small rivers.

Sadly as seen from our hotel there are still many reminders of the war that was fought here. Hopefully this will not happen again.

During our time in Europe we visited many different countries. I'll start sharing the photos from this trip, please follow us if this interests you :)
