Cryptodinner in Bogotá

Yesterday I was invited to a dinner by Stefan Krautwald, the co-founder and CEO of Fluz Fluz, a blockchain-based buying club based out of Medellin, Colombia. The dinner took place at Café Gaira in Bogotá, the venue of the legendary Karaoke party of the Latin American Bitcoin Conference (LABITCONF) where we first met in December 2017.

With Martin, Sebastian and Stefan: German invasion in Bogotá

We both gave a short introductory talk about Bitcoin and the Blockchain to a group of MBA students from Canada who were visiting Colombia to get to know the local economy. Sebastian Fourné, the group's professor at Wilfrid Laurier University (yes, no IE) in Toronto, has been following Stefan's entrepreneurial path for many years. When he came with his students to Bogotá, Stefan invited them for dinner. It was just a coincidence that I arrived in Bogotá that same day, so Stefan was so kind to invite me, too.

Stefan has been living in Colombia for many years, first in Bogotá, now in Medellin. He presented his start-up Fluz Fluz at LABITCONF and he will also give a talk about it at our UNCHAIN conference in Hamburg.

Fluz Fluz is a clever combination of a buyers' cooperative and a cashback system, all based on blockchain technology and digital tokens - one of the smartest concepts in cryptospace I have seen so far. They have been quite successful in Colombia and our now expanding to the USA.

I had very good talks with some of the MBA students (especially Neischa from Trinidad), Professor Sebastian Fourné and Martin Krauss, another German ex-pat who has been living in Colombia for 20 years. "The biggest danger in Colombia", he told me. "Is that you stay here forever."

Stefan invited everybody for dinner, so at least I gave him a signed Cryptocoins book as a small present. Thanks for the nice evening!
