Carical is one of these small lost villages of Cape Verde. In the south of the island of Sao Nicolau, after 2 hours of chaotic road, the village of Carical appears completely isolated by the sea. Here, the only lucrative activity is fishing.

It was this activity that created the village several decades ago. A cannery was set up and offered work to several families. From now on, fishing remains artisanal but sufficient to meet the needs of 200 souls well settled in this incredible setting.

School is provided in the village for all the little ones. And then, for older children continuing school in the city, you have to learn to leave the village on Monday morning very early and only come back on Friday evening at night.

The rhythm of life is thus guided by the going places of the fishing boats and those of the children. Such is often life in Cape Verde.
