What I've learned? | Meet & Greet With My SteemPH.UAE Family

IMG_E3224[1].JPG

I know this is far too delayed but I will still tell you anyway.

Last April 28,2018 was one of the day that I've been looking forward to. This would be the day that I'll be able to meet most of my @steemph.uae family. A family by choice.

So it happened! It was totally a blast even though we are few in numbers. Since it was my first time to meet them, I was expecting that no one would take notice of my presence, but boy I was so wrong. ALL of them didn't made me feel like I don't belong. On the contrary they were all warm and very welcoming.

Before I go on, I must not forget to mention that the food served in Juancho's Billiard Hall and Asian Cuisine was superb, you must go and try. #NotAnAD

Going back, My mentors as I would like to call them—@pingcess, @arrliinn, @kennyroy—played a tutorial video of @hiroyamagishi & @monkeypattycake. It was truly helpful especially for newbies
like me. The program went on as Ate @Arrliinn and Kuya @kennyroy shared with us the agenda that they prepared such as:

  • Protect Your Account From Scam and Phishing Attempts
  • Plagiarism & Copyright
  • Community Engagement
  • Powering Up

Below are some of the voice memos that I was able to save during the discussion and actually my favorites.

On how we can avoid phishing sites or scams

Mommy @arrlinn: Pag nasa computer ka pwede mo naman iho-hover yung mouse mo sa link, tapos makikita mo naman kung saan ka nya dadalahin eh. You don't need to click it. Pag hover mo sa kanya lalabas na kung saan ka nya ireredirect. So wag na. At saka wag na!

Mommy @arrlinn: When using your computer you can just hover over the link and you'll see which site you'll be redirected. You don't need to click it, so if you hover and saw that you'll be redirected somewhere else, don't risk it. DON'T!

Their advise to avoid being accused of plagiarisms

@arrliinn says,

Mommy @arrliinn: Hindi naman pwede lahat nanggaling talaga sa utak mo diba?kailangan iso-source mo talaga sya, kasi scientific sya eh. so isource mo sya, i-site mo yung mga sources mo.

Mommy @arrliinn: Not everything is in your head right? So you have to research and look for sources because more often it is scientific. Site your sources [in your blogs and writings.]

@pingcess says,

@pingcess: 'Tsaka wag direct copy-paste.

@pingcess: and don't just copy-paste directly.

And when they say site your source and give proper credit

Mommy @arrlinn: Google is not a source especially sa photographs.

Their advice regarding your passwords/keys

Mommy @arrlinn: Wag nyong gagamitin sa on your daily life yung [master key] iba't ibang keys, kailangan lang sya sa wallet transactions talaga. Kapag mag vo-vote kayo ng witness, power-up o magtatransfer ng amounts.

Mommy @arrlinn: Don't use your [master keys] on your daily life. We only need that for wallet transactions, if you're going to vote for a witness, to power-up or ir if you're going to transfer amounts. [use your posting keys instead]

On how do they envision @steemph.uae

Mommy @arrlinn: In the long run, makatulong tayo sa filipino community dito. Kung kakayanin natin makapagsponsor ng tickets man lang.

Mommy @arrlinn: In the long run, our aim is to be able to help the filipino community here in UAE. If possible and if we can hopefully we can sponsor airfare tickets [for those who are in dire need]

A group of selfless people, compassionate enough to share what little they have. People who doesn't know how to quit or stop simply because they are Encourager. They encourage people to believe, encourage people to push behind their limits, encourage people to be confident and encourage to live by our hearts desire. With that purpose how can you not be one of us?

I'll quote one of the beautiful person I met during the event with regards on how he envision steemit in the future. I am just so proud to be surrounded with people who are so positive towards everything and has a very compassionate heart.

"I can see the potential of steemit to positively impact the lives of many people particularly Filipinos abroad and equally to other nationalities. I am extremely elated with the thought of one day, this community that we have here in UAE will grow exponentially, achieving our common goals for CHARITY and OUTREACH programs and of course, inspiring everyone to get into writing and expressing themselves with wide array of topics they want to work on.@virgo27,Proud Steemian

And Lastly the event will not be that fun without the @divinekids ( kuya, Little Miss and Little Monster) I was lucky enough to record this conversation. Make sure to listen to it and they will surely melt your heart. Adorables.

Little Monster (@divinekids) * Crying *
Little Miss: (@divinekids) He wants to go to kuya.
Mommy @arrlinn: ahhh.. he wants kuya.
You can go to kuya...
Where did you kuya go?
Little Miss (@divinekids): He is not here
Mommy @arrlinn: Okay. Just stay inside.
Little Monster (@divinekids): (still crying) I WANT TO GO TO KUWAAA (Kuya meaning older brother)
EVERYONE to Little Monster (@divinekids): Aaawwwww... (such a sweetheart)
