My First 100 Days and 1000 posts as a Steemian

Today marks exactly 100 days since I joined Steemit and fittingly this is my 1000th post. I write mainly about travel in Southeast Asia, that is my great love and has been my life for the past 9 years. I set myself a target of 50 reputation by the end of the year and also wanted to achieve 1000 posts and gain 500 followers by then. It has been a fascinating ride and one that has gone well for me. I passed the 50 reputation some time ago and am closing in on 56 at the moment. I use the Upvoters site: http://steem.loadsup.net/upvoters/ I like to see who upvotes each post that I make, and to what strength. My curation awards and those of others affect my rating and power can also be seen.

thanks to everyone who has helped me so far

Of course as you move up it gets harder to grow your reputation, I understood that, but I’m now realising just how hard. A while ago if someone with a good reputation upvoted one of my posts it could move my reputation up by a full 1.00, now I’m lucky to get 0.03 or 0.04. It is hard going but I enjoy the site. I like the fact that it has none of the constant negativity that you get on facebook and other sites.

As I say, have also achieved 1000 posts, exactly; an average of 10 per day, which is pretty good. Gaining followers is hard work at times but I am doing it organically, not simply follow for follow. There are so many bots on here that the quality of your followers is far more important than the quantity.

I work as a full time writer here in Vietnam; I write for my own website inseasia.com, AsiaLIFE magazine, and many other clients, including the Vietnamese Ministry Of Tourism and Culture. I love my life here and would recommend it to anyone thinking of making the change. However, be warned I have had a very rough ride to get here.

It is my intention to invest a bit of money in Steem in the coming weeks and months. I will let you know how it goes for me. I think purchasing Steem Power is a way to advance on this journey. I would like to say a massive thanks to my followers for all the up votes, it really is appreciated. Extra special thanks go to regular readers and supporters @shaka @kafkanarchy84 @gazfalcon @hanzkiboy @jakehorn87 @phanthipahn @team @geckothailiand @smasher @hanggggbeeee Thanks guys, let’s make this work for all of us!
