EPED: epidermal, paper-based electronic device

This is a wearable sensor "smart sticker" that was developed by researchers from Purdue University. It can be used to monitor health of a heart patient. It alerts the wearer of any possible problem in real time. It can also be used by athletes wherein they can monitor and log their performances during training.

It is primarily made of cellulose which are cheap to make, biocompatible and breathable. Since it is biocompatible, it can also be implanted onto internal organs for medical surveillance purposes like sleep pattern monitoring. It is designed to be hydrophobic so it does not fall off when it gets wet.
