Now here's a monster I don't use that often... but no doubt he's a beast! This week's theme of Share your Battle contest is the epic earth monster Mitica Headhunter!
Why don't I use it that often? Well, because it's pricey! And mine is still at a very low level, upgraded it to level 2 only after the battle I'm sharing.
Cons:
- It's expensive
- High mana
Pros:
- Snare at base level, no more sneaky flying monsters escaping
- Very high ranged attack, starts with 4!
- High speed
- Gets to 6 attack, snare, piercing and shatter at max level! Combined with Selenia or the Prince and you have a 7 piercing damage with snare at 5 speed!!
I use mine only at high mana battles, and when I want a ton of firepower. As it was the case here:
Rules:
- Earthquake
- No melee monsters
If I can't use dragons, Earth is probably my favourite Splinter to use on the earthquake ruleset. A lot of flying/healing/high mana monsters available, that you can combine with strong neutrals. This was a high mana cap battle, so a lot of options to use!
Lineup:
- Lord Arianthus in the front; for me one of the best available tanks, to soak up as much damage as possible and reflect some magic damage back
- The cube as an off tank; I started using it more in this ruleset, it's amazing ho hard it is to kill!
- Cornealus, good firepower, healing to counteract the earthquake
- Mitica to add as much firepower possible, and since there's a lot less monsters to reflect ranged attacks, thought it was a better option than a monster with magical attack.
- My must use card in this ruleset, Spirit of the Forest, with tank healing and 2 shield, basically giving an extra-round to all non-flying monsters.
- Kron, high mana and healing as well; not that sneak was a problem in this ruleset, apart from the goblin, hence a monster with healing in the back. And my oponent did use it! But given the ruleset, it wasn't much of a nuisance.
My oppont chose a very fast tank, and with magical reflect. But since I used a lot of ranged attacks, it was a quick kill.
He did managed to bring Lord Arianthus down first on the second round while keeping his tank alive, but the cube with a few more HP because of the scavenger ability gave me more than enough time to strike.
The earth elemental was the last stand before the battle ended, and it was the Mitica delivering the killing blow!

See you on the battlefield!
