Hello everyone, welcome back once again to my Splinterlands blog, this week I will be making a detailed guide for new players who wants to own their deck but don't know what to buy at which levels, I'm submitting this post for the Social Media Challenge to further fund my own Splinterlands deck, if you want to know how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can find the Splinterlands post here.
When I started playing in August 2021, I opened accounts for my daughters too but when the game evolved, they stopped playing because it was getting too complicated for them.
My youngest daughter was talking about starting with Splinterlands again for several weeks, and last week she decided to go for it.
I let a bot play her account all that time so it collected the necessary reward cards she needed to play in Modern Bronze and after a few days she asked me what it would cost for her to upgrade to max Bronze level, so that's when I started to make a list what it would take for her deck to be upgraded, and while I was at it, and already made half the list, I decided this would be a nice guide for starting players too because when you start, you can't decide which cards are worth upgrading because it's definitely not worth it for every card and you end up spending money what could be spend upgrading better cards or getting some 'nice to have cards'.
I consider this deck a minimum 'must have' to be competitive in Modern Bronze League and you have a shot in tournaments and brawls, of course this is my own opinion as a player and some people might make different choices, I also excluded Rift Watcher cards because they're pretty expensive, when you have some extra funds some Riftwatcher cards will be very helpful in your deck.
But first, what is Splinterlands?
So, for people who don't know, Splinterlands is an online collectible card game using blockchain technology. Every card in the game is owned as a NFT and is traded on the Hive blockchain. It's the digital, modern version of Magic: The Gathering with some extra advantages like it's much easier to rent out cards to other players for profit, join tournaments and Guild Brawls.
Cards are available to buy and sell through the ingame marketplace as well as on third-party online marketplaces like Peakmonsters and Monstermarket. Winners can earn real money in the form of Splinterlands own governance token Splinterlands Shards (SPS), making it a lucrative platform for extremely skilled players with the best cards.
With your card set you battle other players, each card has it's own mana value, strengths and abilities and every battle has another mana cap and different rule set, in the higher leagues up to 3 rulesets combined, so if you can wrap your head around the do's and don't in this particular match better than your opponent does, you'll have an advantage already, making it a highly strategic game.

I consider Adelade a 'nice to have' but it's a really nice one to have in my opinion, so that why I made her optional in this list, from here with this deck, you can grind your daily battles, collecting some SPS and reward cards, learn the game, join a guild, get better, start blogging about your battles to earn some extra money to buy cards with and maybe one day advance higher into the other leagues.
