My Shaman once told me there's a lot of competition in the spiritual world. And she's right. There's a competition for who's more enlightened and who can get there faster. People get jealous when others have an enlightening experience.

The spiritual ego is just like any ego. Like any group of people, you're going to find people on the spiritual path who like being on it so that they can feel superior to other people.
In fact, it's the people with the most developed egos and who most act like they know the most who are most successful and people revere the most.
You know those comments on your post that are like, well actually, I read this in a book, and it's better than what you said.
There's always the guy who has to come in and correct or one-up.
We get into pretty complex territory in this world, and maybe sometimes we're just trying to add to the nuances and give someone some help with something we've learned ourselves. Certainly, sometimes I comment with my own version of what I've learned on someone else's post. But I'm careful. People are often dismissive in their exchanges about spiritual topics, and I don't want to do that. I want to honor what the person has said and the lesson they've learned.
May we comment to honor and support and not to flaunt. May we explore our need to be right or to feel better than others. May we honor the person's life path and their work here on Steemit. May we celebrate the spiritual development and success of others and not be jealous of it.
