Palace of the Kings of Navarre of Olite, Photoexcursion [ENG] part 2

You can see the beginning of the photo tour here: Palace of the Kings of Navarre of Olite, Photoexcursion [ENG] part 1, A walk through the village of Olite, in which the castle is located, is located right here: Olite, Navarra - photo excurcion

Let's continue.

Following the excursion route you will get to a small museum telling the history of the castle reconstruction. The thing is that after the annexation of Navarre to Spain, the castle lost any significance and for many centuries simply collapsed. Some functionality of the castle was still preserved until 1813, but in 1813 it was finally destroyed during the guerrilla war against the French. Only in the last century the government of Navarra bought out the castle and began a gradual process of its restoration and turning into a tourist pearl. Restoration of the castle has been going on for more than a hundred years.

A smaller copy of the castle before and after reconstruction looks interesting.

After a short respite in a cool museum, you will have to continue climbing the next tower.

In this tower, that in the middle, the queen lived. Although we have not been able to understand where she could live there..

One last jerk - to inspect the upper courtyard and climb to the highest tower of the castle.

Looked around from the highest point of the castle, and began to descend.

On the way down we turned to the object missed by us - a stone egg. It's a medieval refrigerator - it's always cold there.

The last look at the neighborhood of the castle.

On this tour inside the castle of the Kings of Navarre in Olite ends, just go down and go out into the city.

There will also be a separate post with photoexcursion around the castle.

In July 2017, the entrance to the castle cost us 11 euros - 3.5 euros per adult, and 2 euros per child. It is important to note that you will not be able to walk past the courtyard of the castle with the baby carriage. There are a lot of steps and narrow passages inside the castle. The baby carriage can be left below and carry the child on itself - many tourists did so.

As I already wrote at the very beginning - it's better to plan an excursion in the early morning. When the sun came out to be on the walls it became hot, and also the arriving tourists did not add comfort.
