Palace of the Kings of Navarre of Olite, Photoexcursion [ENG] part 1

For a long time I thought about writing some accompanying text about the castle or not writing - there is a lot of information about it in the Internet.

Quote from Wikipedia:

The Palace of the Kings of Navarre of Olite or Royal Palace of Olite is a castle-palace in the town of Olite, in Navarre, Spain. It was one of the seats of the Court of the Kingdom of Navarre, since the reign of Charles III "the Noble" until its union with Castile (1512).

Surely there is no king with a more beautiful castle or palace and with so many gilded rooms (...) it could not say or even could imagine how magnificent and sumptuous is this palace (...)
— A 15th-century German traveller wrote his impressions in his diary, now conserved in the British Museum in London.[1]

I will conduct a kind of excursion around the castle and write a little about my impressions. All photos are in order of creation.

In the castle there is an excursion route marked with numbers from 1 to 22 and photos will simply guide you along this route. Some photos may seem repetitive - but the tour of the castle is organized in such a way that for each following turn you are more and more breathtaking from the beauty of what you saw.

Here you look at the city from the wall, beautiful. Photographed. Then you move along the route, climb the tower - and the view became even more beautiful. Photographed. You rise to the next level of the tower. But what is it? Everything looks even better. Again photographed. And so it was all the time that was in the castle.

In comparison with similar castle-museums in Ukraine, the castle in Olite is simply empty: there are no picture galleries or statues. Flags hang in some places, there is a small exposition with a history of restoration and a small photo exhibition. But all this is compensated by the general atmosphere of the castle and the views opening from its walls and towers.

About the town of Olite I wrote here.

Have begun. Only 80 photos in first part of photoexcursion.

The courtyard of the castle, there are cash desks and the beginning of the route along the castle.

One of the most notable towers of the castle in which there is no entrance. To visit it is closed.

The castle is actively continuing reconstruction and therefore it is not always clear - it was left on purpose or it is on reconstruction.

I already climbed to the second level of the castle - there are a lot of such galleries and passages in the castle.

Then guided tour led me to the wall near the entrance gate. From here you can see the central square of Olite, and the courtyard which is inside the castle.

And this is a big mulberry and if you have already reached it - this is the end of the route. Although I knew that Salida is an exit in Spanish, but I really wanted to see what was there. When there are a lot of tourists in the castle - it will be easier to start the route from the very beginning than to push back, because the aisles are very narrow.

Here are such passages almost everywhere.

The rooms and halls surprise with their emptiness.

The first "discovery" - the castle in its essence consists of two castles connected by a bridge.

Constantly told himself - take pictures of everything, then choose the best shot. No, I could not choose, I posted everything.

At this point, I will finish the first part of the photo tour.
