Over the years I've come across many trees and tree trunks that have been covered by unique looking and vividly attractive fungus, yet I had never taken pictures of them. Recently, I got an opportunity to shoot some photos of this peculiar growth which I happened to find growing on a tree trunk, and although I'm still not sure of the actual reason why they are found colonizing themselves on the bark of woods, these semi-circular shaped beings found thriving in the most odd places definitely make nice specimens for photography.
Fungi happen to be all around us, and I guess they just need the right environment to survive and thrive. They can be parasitic, or maybe symbiotic, yet they are clearly a very integral part of the our environment and nature.
Have you ever photographed fungus?
