Evening with Ziwasoe Bird

Evening with Ziwasoe Bird

Locally called Ziwasoe in myanmar. Their name is Swiftlets.

The swiftlet is remarkable on two counts: the nest, made chiefly or entirely of saliva, is the basis of bird's-nest soup; and, with the oilbird (q.v.), certain swiftlets are the only birds known to use echolocation to find their way around dark caverns, as do bats.

In Hong Kong, a bowl of bird's nest soup would cost US$30 to US$100. A kilogram of white nest can cost up to US$2,000, and a kilogram of red nests can cost up to US$10,000. The white nests are commonly treated with a red pigment, but methods have been developed to determine an adulterated nest.

This photo was captured from my house. You can see the small house to attract bird for Swiftlet farming.
Swiftlet farming refers to the harvesting of edible bird's nests from man-made swiftlet habitats – also called swiftlet farms. ... The swiftlet nest, or commonly called bird's nest, is a Chinese delicacy since the Tang Dynasty of China (618 – 907 A.D.). The nests are simmered with broth into bird's nest soup.
