US toughen measures against homeopathy

The authorities joined the campaign to limit the sales of homeopathic remedies.

The US authorities are working on new, more stringent measures to control the turnover of homeopathic medicines. This is stated in the statement of the Office of Sanitary Supervision of Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA wants to remove from the shelves of pharmacies products containing dangerous ingredients, injectables, as well as intended for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, drug and alcohol dependencies.

Also, homeopathy will be closely watched for children and the elderly. Toughening of turnover will affect preparations based on belladonna and chilibiha (the so-called emetic nut).

We respect the right of people to resort to alternative medicine, but the FDA is responsible for protecting the population from products that are not good and can harm health, the statement said.

Thus, homeopathic products that do not threaten health will continue to be available to consumers.

In September of this year, European scientists separated homeopathy from medicine.
