Waitin' on Wil the Welder

Woke up to an overcast morning. Off for an early shower not knowing exactly what the day may bring. Did some curating on HIVE and won a prize in @davedickeyyall's Two for Tuesday.. competition. That got me a SGS Monster Raffle Ticket to add to my previous win of Dave's contests.

Used the sunscreen from the forward cabin's hatch to rig some shade in the cockpit. It worked but it would be nice to get up the bimini to shade the full cockpit. Did some digging through the manuals aboard, hoping to find a diagram of how to install the framing. Did not have any luck there so had a look at the pile of poles and metal arches stacked below on the ground.

There were not that many to be able to figure out which goes where. Also found the pins to lock them down to the deck. Once the engine is done that will be my next project so as to have a nice place to retreat to, from the heat, when working on Makina's paint job below the water line.

Jose called and explained that he and Wil the Welder had gotten together earlier today to work out the final details of the engine mount's design and he felt things should be completed by tomorrow. He should then finish up the main installation with those parts at hand. We will still have other issues like the tank getting hooked up, the throttle and trans stick installed, etc., yet the main piece that ties all those pieces together, the engine, will be professionally sitting at its 7 degree slop to match up with the propeller's shaft guaranteeing no shimmy or shakes.

During my afternoon relax/siesta the small fans which are mounted in the forward cabin were tried out for the first time by me and they are great! Not AC exactly, but they really move the air around nicely to cool one down.

Was feeling a little peckish after chilling for a bit so headed over to the Marina's pub. It is on the lower floor of the following pic, the higher end restaurant being on the top floor.

Being a creature of habit my choice was the fresh and fried haddock... but only one piece due to a small appetite because of the heat.

Towards evening Jose dropped round to rhe boat and we had a good look through the engine manual. We could find no mention of the acceleration nor gear shift mounts. Jose called a contact at the Marina who has a Mercury set for sale. He set up a meet to check on them tomorrow providing rain does not shut us down or the original pair cannot be found. It surprised me that Jose shuts down operations due to rain, but we all have our red lines.

Did some deep digging through the boat for the throttle and transmission sticks with no luck. Not sure where they could be. Perhaps will text Chris about them again tomorrow.

May the wind be at your back!
