Pre-sail preparations

Well it was expected to be active and it sure was a busy day. At first it was really laid back with a nice sunny morning with me hanging out in the cockpit enjoying the day. Then an odd sound was heard and to my amazement it dawned on me that it was rain hitting the Bimini! It was only a shower yet how it turned from a beautiful morning to a rain shower blew my mind. Then Chris texted saying that he had arrived but was waiting for the rain to die down. Went out to the parking lot to meet him and brought him out to the slip.

We worked on a few little details while waiting for the showers to pass. He filled out his particulars in the Transport Canada's ownership change request. Will get that sent off asap. We also laid out the sheets for the boom that was not yet up. As the showers seemed abated we headed over to the yard and collected the boom. It was a long walk back with it and some tight corners to be made upon the way yet we eventually for her to the Makina and Chris did his majic to attach it. Makina now looked her part like never before seen by me.

Toward the end of his stay Chris was feeling a little drained. Hope we did not push things too hard for me. He said he wanted to get a picture of the cradle which had been offered to him to keep and sell for whatever he could get for it. He felt he could get $500 for it and would send me half. This is one special fellow. Hard to find better.

Once Chris was on his way home a text came in from Jason who said that he should be at the Marina at about 14:30. He was just about spot on. It was great to see him again. He jumped right into action and had a good look over the boat deciding what we may or may not need and then it was off to Costco to get theitems on Lori's galley list as well as plates, pots, pans as well as other galley items.

We also went to Canadian Tore for items more geared to the boat itself.

Once back at Makina we laid out sheets, started preparation to hoist the sails, yet thought we would wait until tomorrow due to the wind at present.

Wish there were more pics yet with those real busy days there does not seem the chance to get pictures while someone is waiting you to hold something or screw this item down. Except for the impeller we seem ready to caste off. Hope that the impeller arrives at an early enough time in the beginning of the day that we can shove off by then. It's down to FedEx now.

May the wind be at your back!
