Had to let that sweet sweet water real estate go...

Had a little sleep in compared to my schedule since arriving to Toronto. The sun was coming through the forward hatches' window. Lazed around onboard for a while, drinking coffee and internet-ing. Lots of emails awaiting. First from Kate, the Moorings Manager, quoting a price on slip A-12, yet specifying that it had to be for the full season ending Oct. It seemed an overkill for my needs yet A-12 was some sweet marine real estate.

Kate also quoted a monthly price so it was confusing if she was quoting a temporary slip or on the hard. Asked for that clarification before making up my mind in the reply.

Chris, the former owner, texted to ask if we could put off our water pump install until tomorrow which was fine by me.

Just then Jose called. Last night the proper distributing site for the Beta engine was found and it had a contact number. There was a really helpful fellow called Ben who jumped into the call's discussion and pointed me to the exact area on their site which had the throttle and gear stick designed for my model of engine. (Have to have a naming competition for that bad boy.) Ben can have it at the Marina with regular postal delivery in 3-5 business days or they can put a rush on it for an additional charge.

That site and info was texted to Jose last night. He said he had a look over the site and there may be a couple of other things we might consider in order to ensure a top notch job. Their muffler parts for a start instead of jury rigging something. He is going to drop round in the afternoon to have a sit down and to make a list of anything else we might need.

Making a list and checking it twice...

Thought to try a quick trip up the bluffs, like yesterday, and be back to sit down with Jose. Caught the 10:20 going up the hill with the first stop being for edibles. Grabbed a couple of packages of indica chocolates. Enough to make it through a couple of day but not so many as to have a total melt down in this heat. Was eating them out of the package with a spoon a couple of weeks ago during some very hot days.

Something that had been on my mind was to expand my wardrobe a bit, so dropped into a really nice previously enjoyed clothing store. If they had not explained their business model it is not likely of me having guessed it. Everything looked brand new at half the retail price. Picked up three nice cotton t-shirts.

There is a lot of blue worn in my life. Just the years spent in blue Levis alone, so could not resist one for old times sake...

Then there was the something different and a little large a fit which can have its uses on hot days on a beach...

The last was my fave. Can't remember the last piece of my wardrobe that was orange, but just putting it on seemed to channel that Sadhu vibe...

Namaste.

My bus transfer was good until midafternoon so decided to strike out. Have had the feeling that my good old sneakers may be in need of replacement soon. One item that has always worked out for me to purchase has been shoes from Walmart. The staff in Shopper's Drug Mart directed me towards Walmart. A very small bus ride. The selection was not as big as my memory of the store in Halifax, yet eventually found a pair that just may do the trick.

With the backpack starting to fill up it seemed time to start back to the marina. Dropped in the office on the way by to get a Mooring Agreement printed out for Kate.

There was an email reply from Kate, explaining she could offer me a monthly for a few hundred more than each month would work out taking the A-12 slip for the complete season which ends in October. My plan is to get started towards Nova Scotia sometime in August, so decided to go monthly. If life keeps me here all summer there may be some kicking of my pants for passing on slip A-12.

Then, just like that, it was siesta time. Got the fan chugging in the forward berth and had a very comfy 'rest'. Awoke after the heat of the day, around 4pm. Checked to make sure of not sleeping through a call from Jose. He must be running late.

Had a nice sit in the cockpit. There was a nice wind coming ashore from the Lake. Watched as a sloop about our size came into the wind under their engine, raised their sails and fell off to the west and into the vastness of Lake Ontario.

Remembered to take a pic after it had sailed out of sight.

May the wind be at your back!
