A relaxing Sunday

Today was a fairly laid back Sunday. Because the bus was doing its weekend run, it was decided to go and get some supplies. One very important order of business was to get the contract that Hugh, the surveyor, had emailed me, so as to have it ready for him tomorrow. The Marina's office came through with flying colors. They had me forward the contract via email and printed it out on the spot. Can't recommend the Bluffer's Park Marina enough!

Started out to get the bus and realized that change was needed. A take away fried food joint, with some picnic tables in front, was just opening up while passing them. When asked to break a $5 bill they graciously looked in their float yet then refused to part with any of it. Continued on with a plan to try to drop a $5 bill in the change chute. At that hour there were only the driver and myself on the bus. He waved me on after me motioning with the $5 bill over the change chute. Toronto seems like a very friendly place.

When we arrived at the stop near the No Frills grocery store a Dollar Tree store; which is more or less a dollar store; appeared be open across a fairly barren parking lot on this day of rest.

They had one of everything... or a version of it anyway. Splurged for metal forks, knives AND spoonS. Yep that's big soup spoon and something more dainty to stir your tea. Some garbage bags and a cool looking chord to keep my glasses from falling into the deep. The chord must have been left behind at checkout, as it cannot be found and was not on the receipt either. Still have my glasses though, so maybe it worked. My list had some kind of sweeper listed. This is what was found....

Isn't that the most adorable broom and pan that you've ever seen? :)

Makina seems more of a little turtle's home each day spent on her. No matter what tomorrow's survey results may be, there is a feeling of determination to make this happen. It kind of feels like a relationship you want to make work.

The selling price is still under my original budgeted amount for a boat purchase. There, naturally, will be additional expenses, like the survey and more. Hopefully those expenses can be met while keeping the overall costs at or under the original budgeted amount. We will have a better idea of what more to expect after Hugh looks her over tomorrow.

Boats are not an investments nor assets. They are holes in the water that you throw money into; although normally at those times they are on the hard and they are then over holes in the ground where the money gets placed.

All relationships have their costs and rewards. There is a feeling of a relationship with Makina that has not been felt with other things. To a small degree some vehicles yet not on this level. It is easy to see how the mythology of a boat being female in relation to the predominately male crews, in the old days, came into the lore of the sea.

May the wind be at your back!
