Trail running at St. Josephs Hill

Hello all, this is my trail run from yesterday in Los Gatos, California. The shot below is of Lexington Reservoir which was at the top of my trail run.

The run was 3.8 miles with 580 feet of climbing.

GPS data is from a Garmin Vivoactive HR uploaded to Strava

I left my mothers place in the afternoon and wanted to head back towards my area before the rush hour traffic started. This was in the mid afternoon where temps were close to their peak of 86*f. A bit warm for trail running IMO, you get a 'little' sweaty....

Near the start of the trail, you go under main street in Los Gatos and there is a mural/painting of the civilization in this area pre-1700's.

The start of the trail has shade and some nice green surroundings, but it soon turns to exposed single track and a fireroad.

There were quite a few of these pink indigenous flowers along the trail. They survive on very low to no water in the summer months.

Back near the start of the trail is Forbes Mill which was built in 1854. It was originally built as a flour mill and is now a museum.

If you ever get into trail running, I'd suggest specific trail running shoes as they have a tread pattern that not only assists with uphill grip, but downhill braking too.
If you want to track your cadence, Garmin has a small cadence sensor that you just snap onto your shoelaces.
I also use some gel inserts instead of the insoles that come with the shoes for a little more padding.

Happy trail running!
