The Philadelphians

Austin Pendleton had always hated cold Philadelphia with its never ending blue blooded functions and political agendas. Not that he wasn’t patriotic. But he was interested in a more laid back town like his namesake Austin or Durham. Here in this city of Brotherly Love, it was was not a place where he felt stable.

He was career-oriented, but kind. A man that could hold his whiskey, sport chiseled abs, and a dark handsome face that was reminiscent of Tony Curtis. Who happened to be one of his favorite actors from a bygone time in Hollywood. His friends saw him as quiet and very much a gentleman. An original boy scout. Once, he had even helped a lone kitten cross the road. That's the sort of man he was.

Philadelphia - The City of Brother Love

Austin walked over to the window and observed the non-stop flurries building up. The wind, blowing heaps of snowdrift against his toasty home.

Then he saw something in the distance, or rather someone. It was the figure of Jennifer Rawlins. Jennifer was a modest teacher with curvy hips and curvy legs to match. Some would call her fat.

Only the stupid ones that is.

Austin gulped the whiskey he held. He was not prepared for Jennifer tonight.

As Austin stepped outside and Jennifer came closer, he could see the glint of concession in her eyes.

As she drew closer, Jennifer gaze became more that was of affection toward Austin.
She said, in hushed tones, "I thought about what you said and I want to try
this."

Wanting to make sure that everything was okay between them he wanted to ask one final time. To set the record straight.

“Is there anything else we need to do to make this easy for us?” Jennifer asked.

Austin looked into her eyes, seeing that she truly was settled with her decision. "Jennifer, I am with you. No matter what you have decided," he replied.

They looked at each other. Easily discerning one another's feelings. Jennifer, could hear the music coming from the outdated record player, which had Austin’s classic R&B music playing in the background.

She turned and looked toward his home.

“Let’s get you inside before you turn into a popsicle.”

Austin regarded the voluptuous figure as she walked beside him and then in front of him as they walked onto his porch. "No matter what, I want you to be happy."

“Sounds more like a ‘Dear J…’”

“Not that I am not happy that you are here.” Austin quickly added with a delighted grin.

As they entered his home Jennifer then smiled brightly, turned into Austin’s arms, as they soundly kissed one another.

As Jennifer pulled slowly away she looked around at her surroundings. Everything spoke Austin. She picked up the shot glass Austin was drinking before she arrived and refilled it.

She took a tiny sip of the strong liquid. The face she made was priceless, as she turned slightly away from his line of sight. Austin chuckled to himself.

After finally getting her facial features under control Jennifer turned toward him as she winked devilishly and stated,

“Now, all we need to do is invite Jason over.”
