Surprise in Sailboat Mast

A boat arrived yesterday afternoon for some work at the yard where my shop is located. It came from about four or five hours away. I pulled the mast this morning and discovered three little orphaned fledglings still alive. Sadly, one was already gone.
It was obvious that they were starving
As luck would have it, I had nothing to speak of here at work to feed the poor things. I mixed a bit of honey with water just to get something into their tummies. Then one of the guys gave me a bread roll and they ate a little of that mashed up in water. My business partner Andrew went to the store and bought a can of cat food and I got a little of that into them.

I think that they are robins because there was a blue egg in the nest but I’m not really sure.

I called the Seaside Bird Sanctuary and they told me not to give them anything to eat or drink. Oops. That ship already set sail. Hope I didn’t hurt them. They seemed to be sleeping peacefully after eating a bit. But what do I know?

Anyway, Andrew is off to drop them at the bird sanctuary on Indian Shores. I sure hope that they make it.
